N. L. Shorman of Emmons County was arrested by Deputy Marshal Livermore Saturday on a charge of selling liquor to Indians.  He was held to the United States court at a hearing in Mandan this morning, and released on $300. bonds.  Bismarck Daily Tribune Monday February 17, 1896

Revoked Certificate
Last week Supt. Coventry revoked the certificate of H. Register, a young man who recently came to Emmons county and was teaching school in one of the German settlements in the southern part of this county. He severely beat a seven-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Volk. The boy was badly bruised. Mr. R. appears to be entirely too strenuous in his methods to make a successful pedagogue.
