Absconding Cashier is Finally Traced
Dickinson ND Sept 26, A report is current among the members of the R. H. Lyon chain of banks that I. Gintzel, former cashier of the Elgin state bank has been traced and his whereabouts are now known and as soon as a warrant can be gotten he will be arrested. It will be remembered that he skipped out of Elgin over a year ago with all the money in the bank when he thought suspicion had been attracted toward him for forging notes and placing them in the bank. His full shortage was something like $8,000.
He has never been apprehended but the bonding company in which he was bonded for $5,000 has been on his trail and it is expected he will be taken in a few days. His wife who has resided at Elgin until a few months ago suddenly left there for Fargo, and she was closely watched and it was learned that she had communicated with her husband and later had gone to him.
By Gintzel's falsifications the bonding company lost $5,000. and the Lyon Bank $3,000. The bank has made no effort to apprehend him but the bonding company has been persistently on his trail with the above success. Bismarck Daily Tribune Sunday September 27, 1914
