North Dakota Morton County Accidents

Wife a Witness to Death
Mandan. N. D., Oct. 20.—Jacob Renner, one of the best known farmers in southern Morton county, met a tragic death Wednesday in sight of his wife and young son who stood helplessly by and saw him choke to death. Renner was hauling a load of flax when, in going down an incline, the reach of the wagon broke. He climbed down under the wagon to repair the break when the circle hounds dropped down, the wagon moved forward and the hounds caught him in the throat, pinning him to the ground, and cutting off his wind. His little boy, who was with him ran to the house and called his mother who came and though she followed the directions of her husband who was still conscious, she was unable to re-lease him and he died while still pinned to the ground.  The Evening Times October 20, 1911
