The county seat of Ramsey county is Devils Lake.  Ramsey County was created by the 1872-73 territorial legislature and named for Alexander Ramsey, a U.S. Senator from Minnesota at the time. County government was not formally organized until January 25, 1883
 
The Cities of Ramsey County are those of Brocket, Churchs Ferry, Crary, Devils Lake, Edmore, Hampden, Lawton, and Starkweather.
